About the event

Come along to see beautiful and fascinating moths up close! Birches Farm offers a rare window to a landscape now long forgotten. Centuries of protection from the deep plough, modern fertilisers and seed mixes has preserved a stunning array of wild flowers across this beautiful patch work of fields and hedgerows.

Using light traps set up around the nature reserve the previous evening, we will discover which moths are using the fields and hedges of Birches Farm.  We often find rare and impressive species. You will enjoy a guided walk around the reserve followed by short indoor session to talk about the moths we have found, how we found them and how you can help with recording moths in Herefordshire.

The event will be led by our Reserves Team Manager and local moth enthusiasts all of whom have a wealth of knowledge about the reserve, its habitats and species.  The event is suitable for complete beginners or those with existing knowledge about moths.
