River Lugg Surveyors

Lugg Monitoring Project: Restoring our Rivers

Position details

Duration:

-

Herefordshire Wildlife Trust are looking for volunteers to take part in an ambitious river monitoring project in the Lugg catchment, where we will assess the general health of the river and in the long term this will inform our strategy on how to improve it.

As a volunteer you will be surveying riverside habitats, river morphology as well as taking samples from within the river itself at specifically chosen sites on the Lugg and its tributaries (this excludes the river Frome at present). Training will be provided to all volunteers on how to complete these surveys effectively and safely and volunteers will work in small groups to carry out the surveys.

Volunteers should be physically able to navigate rough/steep terrain, have basic wildlife identification skills and be available for training in June and conducting a small number of surveys in July and August. The majority of our sampling sites will be north of Hereford; therefore journey time should be a consideration if you live outside of this area.

Final deadline for applying volunteers 12th of June.
