Community Volunteer for River City

Volunteers will support the River City team in the delivery of events, activities and workshops, that will facilitate the project to establish Hereford as a ‘river city’; where nature thrives within the network of waterways and surrounding wetland areas which are enjoyed by all. It will focus on three key aspects of the waterways: restoring the habitats for wildlife, uncovering and sharing their history and connecting people of all ages to these wonderful natural environments.

Role Description Community Volunteer - River City

About the role: 

Main tasks: 

This role will involve supporting the River City team to deliver a range of community engagement events, workshops and outreach activities; however, River City is currently in its development phase so specific activities may vary as the project develops. 

As an overview this role will cover tasks such as: 

  • Supporting events and activities such as educational workshops, guided walks, outreach events, mental health and wellbeing activities and creative art session
  • Working with the team to create positive experiences that connect people with nature
  • Sharing the messages of River City and encouraging people to get involved
  • Gathering feedback from participants to help improve/guide future activities
  • Working with a range of individuals/ groups including children and young people  

Skills/qualities we’re looking for: 

  • Enjoys talking to and engaging with people
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and approachable
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Given the role may involve working with children and young people, a DBS check will be needed, this can be completed as part of the volunteer induction
