Herefordshire Wild Youth Forum

Herefordshire Wild Youth Forum

Herefordshire Wildlife Trust is proud to be running a Wild Youth Forum that is asking for a #WilderHerefordshire and a #WilderFuture.

I'm Matt and I've worked on environmental issues for the last ten years. I'm 32 years old now and I want to help other young people in Herefordshire to campaign and be active on environmental issues.

I know that many young people are passionate about the state of our environment and very concerned about problems like climate changeplastic pollution and the loss of wildlife.

Our youth forum is trying to make Herefordshire better for wildlife, nature and the environment. And we’ll be part of a growing national movement of young people asking politicians and the Government to make the whole UK better for wildlife and nature.

Even though it’s Herefordshire Wildlife Trust setting up the Wild Youth Forum, we want it to be owned and run by young people (aged 11-25).

We’re proud to say that we’ve already got 15 members of the Forum.

We’ll be working on issues like:

  • climate change
  • helping wildlife
  • plastic pollution
  • littering
  • invasive species

We’ll be running our own events, meeting with politicians, planning campaigns and projects and learning new skills like bee-keeping, mammal trapping and bushcraft. From time to time we’ll also meet up for pizza and campfires in the woods.

The Forum is already up and running, but we’re still open to people joining it. If you think you’d like to join or know more contact me (Matt Williams), Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, m.williams@herefordshirewt.co.uk.
