About the reserve

This reserve is a traditional old Herefordshire hay meadow bounded by a series of old hedges. Meadows like this, which have not received any pesticide or fertilisers within living memory, are now extremely rare in the County.

The meadow is typically very herb-rich, with many species of plants that have largely disappeared elsewhere, including green-winged and common spotted orchids, adder's tongue and pepper saxifrage.
