Ice Age Explorer: Bison

Ice Age Explorer: Bison

Bison

Herds of bison would have also been living in this very spot. Most of the animals back then were very big! But now most of the creatures that live in the ponds from the Ice Age are very small indeed. Lots of minibeasts call the ponds their homes and if you're lucky you can even find frogs, toads and newts!

There are lots of rare species that are supported by Ice Age Ponds due to their age, geology and tendency to dry up in the summer meaning fish cannot survive, and so bugs and amphibians thrive.

This blog is a very interesting read if you want to find out more of what can be found.
