Sam Price – Nature Recovery Network Officer

“As Nature Recovery Network Officer, my role is to support the development of the county infrastructure for the processes behind Local Wildlife Site identification, selection and review. The infrastructure developed will allow this to outlive the Wilder Herefordshire project’s duration. Through the course of the project I will also be identifying sites, engaging with their landowners and surveying with their permission as well as supporting the development of the two Wildlife Survey Trainees.”

Holly Thompson – Wildlife Survey Trainee

“A Wilder Herefordshire’ is a project running until 2023 which aims to contribute to nature’s recovery across the county. As part of a small project team, I will be undertaking assessments of Local Wildlife Sites using scientifically-determined criteria and detailed ecological surveys. I will also assist with the creation of habitat management plans for Local Wildlife Sites, which aim to enhance habitat quality for biodiversity and enable the longevity of these sites as important stepping stones and refuges for wildlife.”

Toby Fountain – Wildlife Survey Trainee

“As a Wildlife Survey Trainee I will be part of a three person team whose task is to organise and carry out as many surveys of these sites as possible over the coming year, with the aim of increasing our understanding and protection of these valuable places. My main roles will include: participating in the surveying of Local Wildlife Sites (LWS), liaising with local landowners to enable us to access sites, complete surveys and build productive long-term relationships, receive training in the necessary ecological survey methodologies to carry out surveys effectively and aid in the writing of management plans for LWS landowners based largely on the findings in our surveys.”
