BBC Countryfile features Herefordshire Wildlife Trust!

Earlier this month, presenter Ellie Harrison and the BBC Countryfile film crew visited the Lugg Valley in Herefordshire.

First, Ellie Harrison met with Lugg Landscape Officer, Sophie Cowling at Bodenham Lake where they discussed the plight of wildlife - in particular toads - in light of the recent flooding in the county. Ellie later joined in with a Toad Patrol when staff and volunteers head out at dusk to give toads a helping hand across the road separating them from their spawning grounds at Bodenham Lake.

Ellie also visited Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum where she spent time with Engagement Officer Karen Roberts and our volunteer gardening group. Talking to some of the volunteers showed how therapeutic it can be to spend time outdoors in a supportive environment - something which is at the heart of this special garden created within the orchard at Queenswood.

The programme also spent time with our artist-in-residence, Richard Bavin. Despite inclement conditions, he and Ellie created some wild and wonderful watercolours on site at Bodenham Lake where Richard regularly paints (and litter-picks!)
