Introduction to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) for Volunteers
This 10 minute video gives an overview of EDI and new volunteers are asked to watch this as part of their induction when joining the Trust.
First Aid

Safeguarding awareness for Volunteers
All volunteers should take the time to watch this seven minute video as part of their induction.

Introduction to Safeguarding (children and adults at risk)
A two hour session which will cover an introduction to both Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults at risk. This course has been designed for staff and volunteers requiring general awareness, or are new to Safeguarding. It is essential for all volunteers who will regularly engage with children or Adults at Risk during their volunteering.
Outline of the session:
- Be familiar with the context for Safeguarding
- Understand why it’s important we raise any concerns we have about people
- Feel confident in understanding signs and possible indicators of abuse or neglect
- Be able to raise a concern with the people who can help
- Understand why it is important we work with other agencies such as social care, the police and health to share information and keep people safe

DBS checks
Some voluntary roles, such as WildPlay support or Community Engagement, will require you to have a DBS check. or share an existing DBS certificate number with us.

Introduction to Data Protection/ GDPR
This is a short online course which is essential for volunteers undertaking roles where they handle personal data e.g. charity shop volunteers, membership/ admin volunteers, some local branch group committee members.

Practical work certificates e.g. brushcutting, chainsaws
A small number of volunteers within the Nature Reserves / Nature Recovery teams will be eligible for practical training courses. These are arranged by your usual volunteer manager so please speak to them directly if applicable.
