Explore the "Wheeling with Wildlife" route with the Hereford City branch of the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust.

A new route created for the Hereford Town Hall Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in response to requests for a City trail suitable for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The route is designed to provide an opportunity for those with mobility restrictions to get outside and see wildlife. The route passes through quiet streets, public open spaces and the banks of the River Wye, with opportunities to spot wildlife, particularly trees, birds and flowers.

The route has been carefully chosen to avoid steps and uses dropped kerbs at road crossings. There is one short pitch that is relatively steep downhill and another short pitch that is relatively steep uphill: return before negotiating these pitches is a possibility.

The "Wheeling with Wildlife" route and description are now available to all members in the latest edition of the Trust magazine, and the description therein includes a QR code from which the route may be downloaded as a Google Map. The two starting points are the Town Hall on St Owen Street (parking and disabled access at rear) and HWT shop in Church Street (no parking). Both of these places have been given a copy of the Trust Magazine with the walk route, description and QR code. Shop staff are looking at having the QR code enlarged and placed in the shop window, because the shop has no ramp with which to negotiate its stepped threshold. 

The starting point for this 1.5 mile, bookable led walk/wheel on 22nd July will be at 10:00 at the base of the steps at the front of the Town Hall on St Owen Street.
