  • Winter work to conserve the rare pearl bordered fritillary butterfly on Coppett Hill

  • Restoration moves forward at Birches Farm nature reserve thanks to grant from Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund

    This winter, considerable changes have taken place at Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s newest nature reserve, Birches Farm. Overgrown hedges have been laid according to traditional techniques, new gates and fencing installed and conservation grazing underway. These works have been made possible thanks to a grant from Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund.

  • Go Toads! Community Project set for success after receiving a Heritage Lottery Fund Sharing Heritage grant of £9,800

    Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Herefordshire Amphibian & Reptile Team and St Michaels’s CE Primary School have received a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Sharing Heritage1 grant to help save toads around Bodenham. The project aims to involve communities around Bodenham Lake to protect the local population of this often overlooked species.

  • Bromyard Downs Project Winter Newsletter out today!

    The autumn has been incredibly mild giving us a beautiful display of reds, oranges, yellows and browns as the trees slowly shed their leaves and move into their sleepy winter state. The dormice, hedgehogs and other hibernating creatures have been bedding down and we have been busy with volunteers clearing scrub, establishing glades and working with the local schools to encourage learning on the Downs.
