  • Mysterious muddy craters signal new start for pond life

    A number of large muddy holes have appeared on commons and in woods around North East Herefordshire over the last couple of months, some up to twenty foot across. While one local resident commented that “it looks like a meteorite has hit” these holes are actually the first step to recreating a part of the landscape’s history and will in time become havens for wildlife.

  • Growing a Community: revitalising green spaces in Hereford

  • Queenswood and Bodenham Lake transfer near completion

    Local charities Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and New Leaf Ltd anticipate that Herefordshire Council will hand over Queenswood Country Park and Bodenham Lake nature reserve to them by Christmas.

  • Largest beech tree on record discovered at Leeping Stocks Nature Reserve

    Herefordshire’s diverse landscape is full of wonderful fauna and flora but is now also home to a new record holder! Gareth and Verena Bowen knew they would come across some particularly spectacular trees while surveying nature reserves on the Doward in their roles as Ancient Tree Hunt Verifiers but they were surprised to find one of the trees they measured was the largest beech tree on record!

  • Volunteers wanted to boost project restoring historic Bromyard Ponds

    Herefordshire Wildlife Trust has partnered with the Herefordshire Amphibian and Reptile Team to begin a new project: Pooling Together – Reviving the Wetland Landscape. The project aims to revive the pond landscape across 850 hectares of North-East Herefordshire by restoring 19 ponds on Bromyard Downs, the National Trust’s Brockhampton Estate and Bringsty Common. They have secured vital funding from Heritage Lottery, BIFFA and Welcome to Our Future and are now ready to get stuck into the practical work involved.

  • Dog Fouling Campaign Launched on Bromyard Downs
