Weobley Local Branch

We meet on the first Thursday of the month from October to April at Weobley Village Hall, Weobley, Hereford HR4 8SN.

About us

The Weobley Branch seek to encourage a love of, and respect for, wildlife in our village and surrounding area.  We hold activities to inform on nature and promote its diversity. We hope in this way to bring people closer to nature.

We hold regular events throughout the year.  From October through to April we have speaker events on the first Thursday of the month (see the events page of Wildside or online for further information), and from May to September we organise visits to local sites of interest such as regenerative farms, SSIs, reserves and ancient woodlands.  In Weobley we have our own HWT reserve (see more below), and we also carry out survey activities, for example on ponds and local birdlife.

Chair: Charles Overton; Programme Secretary: Pam Dunthorne; Treasurer: John Simons; Reserve Warden: Mike Williams; Secretary: Elizabeth Brightwell; Committee Members: Hilary Wallace; Stella Hurdidge; Amanda Apps.

Weobley Wildlife Meadow

The Weobley Wildlife Meadows is a small, quite new, Trust reserve comprising two hay meadows and a newly planted orchard of apples, pears and plums.  A work party meets once a month for a couple of hours to help with an interesting and very varied range of tasks.  We have planted a hedge, planted fruit trees and built guards around them, scattered yellow rattle seed and grown a range of wild flowers from seed to plant out in the hay meadows.  We also look at the wildlife of the reserve and have carried out grassland surveys and moth identification events.  The big project ahead of us for this year is the creation of a new pond in the orchard.   More volunteers would be welcome so get in touch with us if you are interested in coming along.
