Herefordshire,
as one of the most picturesque and unspoilt counties in lowland
Britain, is rich in wildlife. With magical rivers like the Lugg
and Wye running through the heart of it and with an abundance of
ponds and lakes it is a haven for dragonflies, and yet until 20
years ago it was barely recorded.
This book is the product of 20 years of recording in which Peter Garner gives an intimate and personal account of Herefordshire's 27 species, of which all but three have been proven to be breeding.
"The Dragonflies of Herefordshire" will appeal to those who have a general love of the countryside, as well as dedicated dragonfly experts. It comprises 134 pages of text, maps for all species and numerous colour photographs.
The book is published by the Herefordshire Biological Records Centre and is available from the Records Centre or Lower House Farm. To order a copy, please send a cheque for £13.99 payable to 'Herefordshire Council' to:
